The Philippines is the Center of the Richest Marine Biodiversity in the World, yet many Filipinos struggle to access affordable, fresh, and sustainably caught seafood. Fishers, who are among the poorest in society, often go unrecognized for their contributions, largely due to the inefficiencies of the traditional seafood system.

A limited selection of seafood species in the market means Filipinos miss out on the ocean's full bounty. Logistical complexities often lead to a decline in quality and loss of authentic flavors before the seafood reaches the table. Moreover, many regional seafood delicacies and specialties remain unfamiliar to most people unless they have traveled to the specific regions where these dishes are traditionally enjoyed. This lack of awareness threatens the preservation of regional seafood cuisines for future generations.

Traditional processed seafood, along with the women who make up over 50% of local fishers and process it, is often undervalued. Lesser-known fish are frequently dismissed as trash and deemed unfit for consumption. Additionally, the growing problem of food waste in the fishing industry, which accounts for 30-40% of the total catch, further exacerbates these challenges.

This is the primary reason for the inception of Sinaya Seafood. Inspired by Aman Sinaya, the Philippine God of the Sea, we aim to preserve our oceans and address these critical issues. Our Sinaya Seafood Team believes that "By working together, we can protect the Philippine seas, one bite at a time."

SINAYA works to empower and connect hyperlocal fishing enterprises with like-minded partners to deliver fresh, clean and sustainable seafood products. This is done by developing an ecosystem of partners with aligned goals:

  • Our fishing community enterprises
  • Our innovation partners
  • Our logistic partners
  • Our institutional food service partners
  • Our community partners

Help create bigger waves of change by donating directly or trying our Sample and Donate Packages. Your support will help these communities adopt sustainable fishing practices, build a model processing facility in Lubang, Mindoro to enhance their livelihoods and seafood quality, and provide essential logistics support. You'll also have the chance to meet the fishers, hear their stories, and contribute to creating innovative Filipino seafood products that boost their income. Share these unique seafood products with your family, friends, and loved ones this Christmas season. Deliveries are scheduled for November to December 2024.

At Php 250,000, we can enhance the community’s working conditions by acquiring essential fishing and seafood processing safety gear. This will improve protection and efficiency, ensuring safer and more effective operations.

At Php 500,000, the community can secure crucial fishing and seafood processing equipment to uphold high-quality seafood production. This investment will boost productivity, extend shelf life, and maintain consistent quality in their products.

At Php 750,000, the community can obtain logistical equipment to address transportation and distribution challenges. This will streamline the process, ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and better market access.

At Php 1,000,000, the community can invest in safety gear and equipment, resolve logistical issues with dedicated transportation, and establish a model processing facility.

The funds from this campaign will directly support our partner fishing community enterprises in Occidental Mindoro, Iloilo, and Capiz. Whether through reward pledges or donations, the money raised will be used to fulfill reward production and help achieve their goals.
